Indianapolis Pest Protection for Nearly 75 Years

WHERE IT ALL BEGAN

Herbert Moss, a German immigrant and Jewish refugee from WWII, started Total Exterminating Company, in Indianapolis in the Spring of 1948. After 32 years, Herb decided to retire and in 1970 sold the company to Patrick Miles.  Patrick was a longtime customer who ran a grocery store and a gas station in downtown Indianapolis.  He ran Total Exterminating with as much enthusiasm as Herb had and kept it as a one-man business until he was joined by his son Dan in 1977.  Pat then was forced to retire in 1988 due to his heart condition. Vince, his son-in-law, joined the company shortly after. Dan continued to run the business with the help of Vince for many years.  After Dan’s untimely death in 2019, Vince took over and is continuing to run the family pest protection business with his son Derek (Pat’s grandson).
